Tips On Hardwood Floor Refinishing

Hardwood is one of the most cosmopolitan and efficient flooring materials for homes. It provides a very basic and chic finish that can last for many years. While this type of flooring is implicative of old houses in South America and palaces of Europe, it still ideally fits into modern houses as well. However, one minor disadvantage of having hardwood floors is that it wears off eventually over time. While these floors may last a lifetime, its finish may become damaged and dull because of excessive use. This wearing off can be observed on hardwood floors located in high foot traffic areas of the house.

Damaged and worn off hardwood floors doesn’t appeal to the eye, and they are also difficult to clean. This is very true specifically for hardwood floors that have coatings or polishers which are wearing away. Preserving the look and luster of hardwood floors completely depend on timely maintenance and refinishing.

It is good to understand that not all the chipping away or dullness of your hardwood floor would need complete floor refinishing service. All you need is plain water and cloth sometimes to bring back the shine on your floor. There is a way to check whether it is the time to use a mop or start moving furniture and get on your knees immediately. First, you must go to the floor that is used most often. Drench that part with water and observe. If the water forms into beads suddenly, this means the polish of the floor is still good and you don’t need complete refinishing. A wet cloth wipe or stain remover is all you need to bring back the glow. But, if the water bubbled into the floor and turned into dark color, that means the coating is ruined already and it is the time to do floor refinishing.
